2. Cilantro – 1 small bunch
Mint leaves – 1/2 cup
Curry leaves – 10
Green chilies – 4 – 5
3. Onion – 3/4 cup, finely chopped
Ginger-garlic paste – 1.5 tsp
Curry leaves – 5, finely chopped (optional)
4. Turmeric powder – 2 pinches
5. Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
Coarsely ground pepper – 1/2 tsp or as required to taste
Garam masala powder – 2 – 3 pinches
6. Lemon juice – 1 – 2 tsp
7. Salt – To taste
8. Oil – 1.5 tbsp
Method
1. Grind all the ingredients numbered 2 to a paste. Keep aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan at medium heat. Saute finely chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste and chopped curry leaves, if using. When onion turns light golden in color, add turmeric powder and mix well. Next add ground green paste, enough salt and saute for 2 – 3 minutes until oil starts separating. Now add the cleaned shrimp and mix well. Add cumin powder, pepper powder and garam masala powder. Cook for 4 – 5 minutes until the shrimp is well-coated with the green masala (do not overcook). Finally add in the lemon juice and mix well. Serve the delicious hariyali jinga with rice / rotis.
