White Chana Sundal

White chickpea sundal

Ingredients(Serves 4)

1. White chana/chickpeas – 1 cup

     Salt – To taste

     Water – As required

Soak chickpeas in enough water for 8 – 10 hours. Rinse well and place in a pressure cooker with enough water, salt and 1/2 tsp oil. Pressure-cook until chickpeas is soft and done. Drain excess water and set aside.

2. Grated coconut – 3 – 4 tbsp

To season

3. Oil – 1 tbsp

    Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

    Dried red chilies – 2, broken

    Urad dal –  3/4 tsp

    Curry leaves – 1 sprig

    Hing – 1 pinch

    Green chilly – 1, slit (optional)

Method

Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dried red chilies and urad dal. When urad dal turns brown add curry leaves, hing and green chilly. Stir for a few seconds. Add cooked chana, grated coconut and mix well. Add salt, if required. Serve it as a snack or with curd rice/lemon rice etc.
