9. Salt – To taste
10. Cilantro – 2 tbsp, chopped (to garnish)
Method
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker over medium-high heat. Splutter cumin seeds and saute until brown (take care not to burn them). Add garlic and saute until golden brown. Add onion, little salt, ginger, green chilly and saute until translucent. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder and saute for a few seconds. Add chopped tomato and cook until soft. Next add moong dal and stir for 1 – 2 minutes. Finally add hot water and mix well. Cover and cook for 1 whistle. Open the lid when pressure releases. If the dal is very thick, pour 1/2 cup hot water and cook for a few minutes. Sprinkle cilantro and serve hot.
