Ingredients
Recipe Source – Here (originally from Baking: From my home to Yours – By Dorie Greenspan)
1. All purpose flour – 2 cups + 2 tbsp
Baking Powder – 1 1/4 tsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
2. Unsalted Butter – 1 1/2 sticks (12 tbsp), room temperature
Sugar – 1 cup
3. Eggs – 4 large
4. Pure Vanilla Extract – 1/2 tsp
5. Whole Milk – 1/2 cup
6. Semi-sweet baking chocolate – 4 oz, melted ( I used Baker’s Semi-Sweet baking chocolate squares)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 325˚F. Butter a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan, dust the inside with flour and tap out the excess.(I lined it with parchment paper and greased it with butter).
2. Sift the all purpose flour, baking powder and salt in a wide bowl. Set aside.
3. Cream the butter and sugar for about 3 – 4 minutes using a hand mixer at medium speed. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and beat well. Alternately add the flour and milk in small portions, starting and ending with flour, and mix only till combined at low speed.
4. Add half the batter to the melted chocolate and mix well. Alternately drop spoonful’s of the dark chocolate and plain batter into the prepared loaf pan. Using a knife, cut deep into the batter and make a few zig zag patterns (not more than 4 – 5 times). Bake for 1 hour and 20 – 30 minutes or until a toothpick/knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Transfer the cake to a cooling rack. Let stand for 15 minutes. Run a blunt knife through the edges and unmold. Cool to room temperature and cut into slices. This cake is dense and very delicious. Enjoy with a cup of milk or tea!!

Hi ,
Congrats!!!
A small request on top of the wishes 😉
Can you please also mention the ingredients in units of Grams/L when ever a measurement in Cup /Oz is mentioned. I kind of find it tough to make sure if the measurements are correct since the Cup measurement can differ sometimes.Especially while making cakes/cookies this seems to be more crucial..Thanks in advance.
warm regards,
Priya
Congrats on your milestone. And this delicious marble cake is so apt for the occasion.
Love it, got to give it a try.
Hi :(((((((((((((((((((((
This cake turned out to be disaster!!!
I think the cup measurement doesnt work!! my measuring cups are from Europe and i think it differs from the US measurements???

Priya
Priya,
Really sorry to know that the cake didn’t turn out well for you. i am also sorry for the late reply, actually I am really busy with some personal stuff, the posts that I publish here are drafts that i had compiled long back 🙂
Regarding your questions, I have always used cup measurements for my bakes and I have never had any problems before..Did you use a 200 ml cup? Mine is a 237 ml cup..Please refer to these links for cup to gram/ml conversions..

hi
i have tried your chocolate cake.. it was a big hit. everyone loved it
And this time i tried marble cake. it did not reach up to my expectation. i used Dr octker baking DARKchocolate. is that the reason?? i followed recipe as it is except chocolate part 🙂
Thanks a bunch for your feedback..Great to know that everybody enjoyed the chocolate cake.
Sorry to hear that the marble cake didnt come out as well as you expected. It came out well for me and at least 3 ppl gave positive feedback, so it could be the baking Dark chocolate..Pls give it a try with semi-sweet chocolate and see if it works.
Dear, Maya, yesterday was a rainy day and I tried your Marble Cake in a loaf tin .It came out very well.I used 100g chocolate, is it equal to 4OZ. Thankyou so much.
