Easy Tawa Paneer

Ingredients (Serves 3 – 4)

  1. Paneer – 200 – 250 gm, cut into 1/2 inch slices

2. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Kashmiri chilly powder – 2.5 tsp

Pepper powder – 1/4 tsp

Corn starch / corn flour – 1.5 tsp

Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp

Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp

Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp

Chat masala – 1/2 tsp

Lemon juice – 2 tsp

Salt – to taste

Oil – 2 tsp

Water – 1 – 2 tbsp or as required to make a paste

3. Oil / ghee – 1.5 tbsp (To fry paneer)

4. Onion rings – 8 – 10

5. Fresh lemon wedges and chopped coriander leaves – To serve

Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients numbered 2. Marinate paneer with this mix. Set aside for 15 minutes.

2. Heat 1 – 1.5 tbsp oil / butter on a non-stick tawa / griddle over medium heat. Add the paneer pieces in 2 batches and fry on medium flame for 1 minute. Bring down the heat to low. Cook for a minute. Flip over to the other side. Place a few onion rings (coat them with little marinade if needed) on one side of the tawa. Cook along with paneer for 1 – 2 minutes or until soft. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt on the onion rings, if required. Remove to a plate.  Sprinkle chopped cilantro and fresh lemon juice on the fried soft paneer pieces. Serve immediately otherwise the paneer pieces will harden. It tastes best when soft and warm. Its super yum..do give it a try. Serve as an appetizer or with chapathi / pulao.
