Ingredients
1. Fish – 4 medium steaks (You can use any fish you prefer. I have used pompano (vatta) here)
2. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri chilly powder – 1 – 1.5 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Ginger-garlic paste – 1.5 – 2 tsp
Salt – To taste
Lemon juice / vinegar – 1 – 1.5 tsp
3. Coconut oil – 2 tbsp, to shallow fry
Method
1. Make small gashes on the fish pieces, if they are very thick. Combine all the ingredients numbered 2. Taste-check for salt. Rub the marinade on the fish pieces. Set aside for 20 minutes.
2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Fry fish pieces on all sides until browned and done. Serve this spicy Kerala fish fry with hot steamed rice.
