Ingredients (Serves 4 – 5)
1. Beef – 3/4 kg, cubed
2. Ginger – 1.5 tbsp, chopped
Garlic – 1.5 tbsp, chopped
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder- 1 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
Onion – 3/4 cup, thinly sliced
Green chilly – 1, slit
Curry leaves
Salt – As required
Coconut oil – 2 tsp
3. Coconut oil – 4 – 5 tbsp or as required
4. Coconut tidbits- 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder- 1 pinch
5. Onion – 2 – 2.5 cups
6. Chili powder – 3/4 tsp
Pepper powder – 3/4 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1 pinch
7. Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Method
1. Combine the beef pieces with all the ingredients numbered 2. Add 2-3 tbsp water and pressure cook till soft.
2. Heat coconut oil in a pan and fry the coconut tidbits adding a pinch of turmeric and salt. Remove to a plate. In the remaining oil, add onion and a pinch of salt. Cook till onion turns golden brown. Remove to a plate. Add cooked beef along with gravy and cook till the moisture is completely evaporated. Add chili powder, pepper powder and a pinch of garam masala powder. Mix well. Cook over medium low till the beef is roasted to your liking. Add fried coconut tidbits, fried onion and curry leaves. Mix well and cook for a minute. Serve with porotta/rice and moru curry.
