Ingredients (Serves 5)
1. Padavalanga – 1 medium (cut into thin pieces)
2. Grated coconut – 3/4 cup
Onion – 1/2 cup, thinly sliced and halved
Green chilies – 2 – 3, diagonally sliced
Cumin powder – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – A few
3. Coconut oil – 2 – 3 tsp
4. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Dried red chilly – 2, broken
5. Salt – To taste
Method
1. Combine the snake gourd pieces with ingredients numbered 2.
2. Heat oil in a cheena chatti at medium heat. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dried red chilly. Add the snake gourd mixture, sprinkle little water, bring everything to the center and cook covered for 10 – 12 minutes, stirring in between until done. Serve with rice and other side-dishes.
