Ingredients (Serves 5)
1. Unakka chemmeen, cleaned – 11/4 cup, rinsed well
2. Pacha thakkali – 4 – 5, medium
Shallots – 8, thinly sliced
Green chilies – 3 – 4, diagonally sliced
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder – 3/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – To taste
3. Coconut oil – 2 tsp
Method
1. Crush 1/4 cup rinsed dried shrimp slightly in the small jar of a blender.
2.Place the crushed dried shrimp and all the ingredients numbered 2 in a manchatti / clay pot. Mix well using your fingers. Cover and cook for 15 – 20 minutes until mostly dry. Switch off. Add coconut oil and mix well. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes. Serve with rice and other side-dishes.
