Ingredients
Recipe Courtesy – Pazham Pappadam Payasam
1. Pavakka – 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
Shallots – 2
2. Grated coconut – 1 cup
Tamarind – Small goose berry sized OR 3 – 4 mango slices, roughly chopped
Green chilly / dried red chillies – 3 or chilly powder – 1/2 tsp (If you are using dry red chillies, dry roast them at medium heat for a few minutes until crispy)
Curry leaves – 4 – 5
Salt – To taste
3. Oil – 1 tsp or as required
Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Saute the bitter gourd pieces until golden. Add sliced shallots and saute for a few minutes. Switch off. Set aside to cool. Grind it along with the ingredients numbered 2 to a smooth mixture adding little water if necessary. Shape into a ball. Serve with rice.
Nellikka Chammanthi
Gooseberries -3 large
Coconut – 1/2 cup
Green chillies – 2 – 3
Pearl onion – 2
Curry leaves – A few
Salt – To taste
Wash the goose berries. Remove the seeds in the middle. Grind with the remaining ingredients in a mixer.
Super chammanti…would be great with kanji too…
