Home-made Granola

Ingredients

1. Old-fashioned rolled oats – 2 cups

Raw almonds or mixed nuts, sliced – 1/2 – 3/4 cup

Brown sugar – 2.5 tbsp

Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp

Salt – 1/8 tsp

2. Honey or maple syrup – 2 tbsp

Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp

Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp

3. Raisins/ any dried fruits – 1/4 – 1/2 cup

Chocolate chips – 3 – 4 tbsp

Method

 

Before baking

Preheat the oven at 325 F. Mix oats, sliced almonds, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon powder.  ICombine the  honey, oil and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Pour this over the oat mixture and mix everything well using a spatula. Spread it on a baking pan. Bake at 325 F for about 25 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes so that the mixture browns evenly. Take it out of the oven. Cool completely. Add in the raisins and chocolate chips, if using. Stir well. Store in an air-tight container for 2 weeks. Serve with milk/ yoghurt / ice-cream etc.
