Water – Around 1.5 cups or as required
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder – 3/4 tsp
Curry leaves – A few
Salt – To taste
2. Green gram / cherupayar – 1/4 cup, heaped
3. Grated coconut – 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds – 1 pinch
Garlic – 2 small cloves
Green chilies – 2 small
4. Coconut oil – 2 tsp
Method
1. Cook green gram adding enough water in a pressure cooker for 1 – 2 whistles until soft and done.
2. Grind grated coconut, cumin seeds, garlic and green chilies to a very fine paste.
3. Cook the raw banana cubes adding enough water, turmeric powder, chilly powder, curry leaves and enough salt. When the raw banana cubes are soft and done, add cooked green gram. Mix well and add the ground coconut paste. Cook for 4 – 5 minutes and switch off. Add 2 tsp coconut oil and mix well. Serve hot with rice and any stir-fry / mezhukkupuratti. We had it with mutton roast.
Maya … you wrote to your readers “Serve hot with rice and any stir-fry / mezhukkupuratti.” But speaking of yourselves you admitted, “we had it with mutton roast.” Why do your poor readers have to settle for a lowly stir-fry as a side-dish??!!!
May we be blessed with your recipe for mutton roast? Please??
Good one Dido 🙂 We usually have this with some mezhukkupuratti and moru curry, but that day I made mutton roast too so just clicked them both. Will post the mutton roast recipe soon..
Tried it out & came out gr8. Thanks…
Thanks for your feedback! 🙂
