Kadachakka puzhukku

Ingredients(Serves 2 – 3)

1. Breadfruit – 1.5 – 2 cups, cleaned and cubed

    Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

    Salt – To taste

    Water – Around 1.5 cup or as required

To grind

2. Grated coconut – 1/2 – 3/4 cup

    Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

    Cumin seeds – 1 pinch

    Garlic – 1 medium clove, chopped

    Green chilies – 2

To season

3. Coconut oil – 2 tsp

    Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

    Dried red chilies – 2, broken

   Curry leaves – A few


1. Crush the grated coconut along with ingredients numbered 2. Set aside.

2. Combine the ingredients numbered 1 in a heavy-bottomed vessel. Cook covered for 15 – 20 minutes until soft and done. Mash using the back of a spoon. Add the crushed coconut mixture. Cook for a few minutes until the raw taste of coconut is gone. Switch off.

3. Heat coconut oil in a small pan. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chilies and curry leaves. Pour over the prepared puzhukku. Serve immediately with chammanthi / fish curry/ rice.
