Ingredients (Serves 4)
1. Pavakka vattal – 1/3 cup
2. Coconut oil – 1 – 1.5 tbsp
3. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Dried red chilies – 2, broken
Curry leaves – A few
4. Grated coconut – 1/2 – 3/4 cup
Yoghurt 2 – 3 tbsp + 1/3 cup or as required
Cumin seeds – 1 pinch
5. Salt – To taste
Method
1. Grind grated coconut and cumin seeds adding 2 – 3 tbsp yoghurt to a fine paste.
2. Heat 1 – 1.5 tbsp coconut oil in a small pan. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dried red chilies until browned. Add pavakka vattal and fry until done. To this, add coconut mixture and cook for a few minutes. Switch off. Add the remaining yoghurt and mix well. Add salt, if required. Serve with rice.
