Homemade Waffles

Ingredients (Makes about 4 – 5 waffles)

1. All purpose flour / maida – 2 cups

Sugar – 3 tbsp

Baking powder – 1 tbsp

Salt – 1/2 tsp

2. Whole milk – 1.5 cup

Butter – 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp, melted

Egg – 2 large

Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp


  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs and vanilla extract. Add this to the dry ingredients and whisk until just incorporated (do not over mix, its okay if the batter is lumpy). Set aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Preheat your waffle iron. Grease with a little butter or cooking spray. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter (depending on the size of your waffle maker) and cook the waffles according to the directions on the waffle iron. Remove waffle when done and repeat with the remaining batter. Top the prepared waffles with powdered sugar, whipped cream, maple syrup, butter, honey, fresh fruits, jam or any desired toppings.
