Lahori Fish Fry

Ingredients (Serves 3)

  1. Fish (rohu, tilapia, sea bass etc) –  350 gm, cubed

2. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Kashmiri chilly powder – 1 tbsp

Crushed chilli flakes – 1.5 tsp

Crushed coriander seeds – 2 tsp

Cumin seeds, crushed – 1/4 tsp

Ginger-garlic paste – 1.5 tsp

Ajwain / aymodakam – 1/3 tsp

Kasoori methi – 1/4 tsp

Besan / kadala mavu – 3 tbsp or as needed

Lemon juice –  2 tsp

Salt – As required

Water – 1 – 1.5 tbsp or as needed

3. Oil – To deep fry

4. Chat masala – Few pinches

Lemon wedges – To serve

Method

  1. Combine fish pieces with all the ingredients numbered 2. If it is too dry, add a little water.  The mixture should stick to the fish well. Set aside for 30 minutes.

2. Deep fry until browned and completely cooked, takes about 2 – 3 minutes on each side. Drain on to a paper towel. Sprinkle chat masala and serve immediately with lemon wedges or green chutney.
