Mushroom Roast


Ingredients ( Serves 2 – 3)

  1. Mushroom – 250 gm or 1 packet
  2. Onion – 1 med-sized, thinly sliced
  3. Ginger – 1 tbsp
  4. Garlic – 1 tbsp
  5. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  6. Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp
  7. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
  9. Oil – 2 – 3 tsp
  10. Cilantro – To garnish


1. Put the mushrooms in a vessel filled with water and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder for about 10 minutes. Wash the mushrooms in 2 – 3 rounds of water.

2. Heat oil in a pan at medium heat. Add chopped ginger and garlic. Saute for about 10 seconds and add sliced onion. Saute until the onions turn golden brown. Add the masala powders and then saute for a few seconds. Add in the mushrooms and salt. Mix well and cook covered for a few minutes. Do not add any water as water will ooze out from the mushrooms. Open the lid and stir fry until the preparation gets dry. Add 1 – 2 pinches of pepper powder and garam masala. Garnish with cilantro. Serve hot with chapatis / rice.
