This simple, quick yet tasty dal recipe was shared by Manju Jyothish. It calls for the most common ingredients that everyone will have in their pantry. Here moong dal/ cherrupayar parippu is cooked in a pressure cooker along with onion, green chillies, curry leaves, salt and then seasoned with coconut oil. Hope you will like it.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- Mung dal/ mung bean/ cherrupayar parippu – 1/2 cup
- Onion – 1/2 small, diced
- Green chillies – 3, slit
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Salt – To taste
- Water – 1.5 – 2 cups
- Coconut oil – 2 tsp
Method
Pressure cook all the ingredients except coconut oil for two whistles. Open the pressure cooker when pressure releases. Add coconut oil and a few curry leaves. This preparation tends to thicken over time, you can add a little hot water in order to dilute it. Serve hot with chapatis.
