Raw Banana Peel Mezhukkupuratti




  1. Raw banana peel (ethakka tholi) – Of 2 med-sized raw banana
  2. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch (Optional)
  3. Pepper powder – 1 – 1.5 tsp
  4. Curry leaves – A few
  5. Salt – To taste
  6. Coconut oil – 2 – 3 tsp


Wash the raw banana peels and cut into 1.5 inch strips. Cook them covered adding enough water (about 1/4 -1/2 cup) and salt, until done and the water evaporates completely. Heat oil in another pan (or add the coconut oil to the cooked raw banana peel in the same pan). Add the cooked peel, few curry leaves and pepper powder. Fry for 5 – 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Serve hot with rice.
