Ingredients
1. Bread fruit – 2 – 2.5 cups (cubed)
2. Onion – 1 small, cubed
3. Grated coconut – 3/4 cup
4. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
5. Chilly powder – 1 tsp
6. Coriander powder – 3/4 tsp
7. Garam masala powder or fennel powder – 1 tsp
8. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
9. Dry red chilies – 2, broken
10. Curry leaves – 1 sprig
11. Thenga kothu / coconut flakes – 2 – 3 tbsp
12. Oil – 2 – 3 tsp
13. Salt – To taste
Method
1. Combine the grated coconut with turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder and masala powder.
2. Heat oil in a cheena chatti /any pan. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chilies and curry leaves. Add the breadfruit, thenga kothu and onion cubes along with the grated coconut mixture. Add enough water (around 3/4 – 1 cup) and salt. Cook covered at low heat until done. Check in between and add more water if required. Once its done, open the lid and stir-fry until dry. Serve warm with rice and an ozhichu curry.
