Ingredients (Serves 4)
1. Cabbage – 1/2 small (around 2.5 cups, chopped), chopped
2. Coconut oil – 2 tsp
3. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Dried red chilies – 2, broken
4. Onion – 1/4 cup
Ginger – 1/4 inch, finely chopped
Green chilies – 2 – 3, diagonally sliced
Curry leaves – A few
5. Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
6. Salt – To taste
Method
Heat coconut oil in a cheena chatti / pan over medium heat. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dried red chilies. Add onion, little salt, ginger, green chilies and curry leaves. Saute until onion turns translucent. Add turmeric powder, little chilli powder and cook for a minute. Add chopped cabbage, salt and mix well. Cook covered for a few minutes. Open the lid and cook for a few more minutes until completely cooked and dry. Serve warm with rice, pulisseri and other side-dishes.
