Ingredients (Serves 4)
1. Brussles Sprouts – Around 400 gm, halved
2. Oil – 2 – 3 tbsp
3. Cumin seeds – 1 pinch
4. Onion – 3/4 – 1 cup, chopped
Garlic – 3 – 4 cloves, finely chopped
5. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
6. Sesame seeds – 1.5 tbsp
7. Soy sauce – 1.5 – 2 tsp
Chilly garlic sauce – 1 tbsp
Tomato ketchup – 1.5 tbsp
Honey – 1 – 2 tsp or to taste
8. Salt and pepper – To taste
9. Cilantro – 2 – 3 tbsp, to garnish
Method
Heat oil in a wide nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Splutter cumin seeds and add onion and garlic. Stir-fry until onion turns transparent. Add brussels sprouts, turmeric powder, 1 – 2 pinches of salt and mix well. Cover and cook over medium heat for 3 – 5 minutes, stirring once or twice in between so that the brussels sprouts wont get burnt at the bottom. Sprinkle sesame seeds and mix well. Next add soy sauce, chilly garlic sauce, tomato ketchup and honey. Turn the heat to medium and stir-fry for a minute. Bring down the heat to medium-low and cook for 2 – 3 minutes. Again mix well and check for salt. Switch off. Garnish with chopped cilantro.
Keep covered for a minute and then serve with fried rice/ noodles or as an appetizer.
