Easy Shallot and Crushed Chilli Chicken

Ingredients (Serves 3)

Chicken – 1/2 kg, cut into small pieces

Coconut oil – 1.5 tbsp

Shallots – 15 – 20, crushed

Curry leaves – 1 – 2 sprigs

Turmeric powder – 1 pinch

Crushed red chilies – 2 – 3 tsp or to taste

Salt – To taste


Heat coconut oil in a kadai over medium-high heat. Add shallots, curry leaves, a pinch of salt and cook till it turns light golden. Add turmeric powder and crushed red chilies. Cook for a minute and add the chicken pieces. Add salt, to taste. Mix well. Cook covered for 15 minutes till water oozes out of the chicken. Stir in between. Open the lid and cook over medium heat, stirring in between, till dry. Serve hot. It goes well with rice/chapathis.
