Ingredients
1. Fish – Around 250 gm ( I used 2 salmon fillets)
2. Onion – 1/2 medium sized
3. Ginger – 1 inch piece chopped
4. Garlic – 3-4 chopped
5. Tomato – 1 small sliced
6. Green Chillies – 3 sliced
7. Kudampuli/fish tamarind – 2-3 soaked in water for 15 mts or so (You can also use lemon juice instead of kudampuli)
8. Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
9. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
10. Coriander powder – 3/4 tsp
11. Thin coconut milk – 1/2 cup
12. Thick coconut milk – 1/4 cup
13. Curry leaves – 1 sprig
14. Salt – To taste
Method
1. Clean and slice the fish fillets.
2. Heat oil in a claypot/meenchatti or in a pan and add the sliced onion, green chillies, ginger and garlic.
3. When the onion becomes transparent, add the sliced tomato, curry leaves and saute for 1-2 mts.
4. Now add chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Mix well.
5. Add the thin coconut milk.
6. Bring it to a boil and add the fish pieces and kudampuli. Cover and cook.
7. When the fish pieces are done add the thick coconut milk and simmer for a few minutes. Check the salt and switch off. Serve hot with rice/chappathi/appams.
